Silicone sealant is a common adhesive material that can be categorized into different types based on its properties and applications. Below are the main classifications of silicone sealants:  

  By Curing Mechanism  :  

Silicone sealants can be divided into   single-component   and   dual-component   types. Single-component silicone sealants cure by reacting with moisture in the air, while dual-component silicone sealants consist of two parts (A and B) that only cure when mixed together.  

  By Chemical Property  :  

Single-component silicone sealants are further classified into   acidic   and   neutral   types. Acidic silicone sealants are primarily used for general bonding between glass and other building materials. Neutral sealants, which avoid the corrosive effects of acidic sealants on metals and reactions with alkaline materials, have broader applications.  

  By Application  :  

Silicone sealants include   acidic glass sealants  ,   neutral weather-resistant sealants  , and   silicone structural sealants  . Acidic glass sealants are suitable for sealing, leak prevention, and weatherproofing. Neutral weather-resistant sealants are mainly used for weatherproof sealing in curtain walls. Silicone structural sealants, designed for bonding metal and glass structures (e.g., in glass curtain walls), have the highest quality standards among silicone sealants due to their critical role in structural and non-structural assemblies.  

  By Chemical Composition  :  

Silicone sealants are primarily composed of chemicals such as   polydimethylsiloxane   and   silicon dioxide  . Based on their chemical formulations, they can be categorized into   acetoxy-cured  ,   alcohol-releasing  ,   amine-releasing  , and   propylene-releasing   types.
